From the comments section of Slate's article on Valentine's Day hater's:
If there was any justice in the world we would instead be celebrating tomorrow, Feb. 15th - Galileo's birthday - instead of today. When I'm feeling particularly energetic I make Galileo Day cards and pass them out to friends & co-workers with bookstore gift cards - (the way you celebrate G-Day is to learn something new & the traditional gift is a book). I prefer my own holidays... to each their own.
What a wonderful idea! If you could make up a holiday, what would it be?

Date: 2011-02-17 09:43 pm (UTC)I'm also fond of No Steps Day, commemorating the day I walked all the way up to the top of St Paul's Cathedral and then all over London after an overnight flight by not walking up any steps at all.
Other made-up holidays: No Pants Day, Talk Like A Pirate Day, dozens of food-specific holidays, Jude's Day of 200 Pigs...
