My super just double-checked a tip amount with me.  It makes me wonder what the hell people in the building usually do to thank him - hand him a cookie?  I'm picturing Christmas bonuses that make the Dursley's presents to Harry look generous ....

The Tanuki and I are big tippers. And we remember to tip people that a lot of people forget these days, like the hairstylist. Because we've both done the service jobs, and appreciate it when they are done well.

I am always a little sad to see people be shocked when we tip nicely.

It amazes me that there are people who don't tip their supers well. I mean, on the one hand there's the obvious altruistic reason for tipping one's super: anyone who spends his days fidding with people's sink drains and emptying out the rat traps in the basement deserves an extra few bucks here and there. And then there's also the no-brainer point that at some point, you're gonna need the super's help again. And believe me, he'll show up a lot quicker and do a much more conscientious job if he knows you're the tipping kind.
