A moment of small-world amusement: today, one of my freshmen came to see me during office hours to get tips on How to Succeed in Fantasy. While we were talking, he asked me if I'd ever read a book called In the Midnight Garden, or something that sounded like it - there was a bit of mumbling. And I said, no, I've never heard of that ... heeeeeeeeeeeeeey, wait, do you mean In the Night Garden, by Cat Valente? Turned out it was his very favorite book, ever.
I am always tickled when my worlds collide.
In related news, Cat is going to be releasing regular installments of the lyrically titled The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making in order to mitigate some of the nasty side-effects of our wretched economy (full explanation of circumstances and their solution here), so go and read it. Maybe you will discover your own very favorite book, ever, and then you can casually mention it in conversation to someone who knows and adores Cat and amuse the hell out of them, someday.
