d_aulnoyDunno who knows anything about astrology on my f-list, but tell me, wise friends and neighbors ... what's in retrograde these days? Methinks it must be the planet of public speaking, because ...
A) The MoCCA lecture? Is established. November 28th, the Monday after Thanksgiving, you'll be able to hear moi delivering a paper entitled "(En)Chanted Images: Fairy Tales, the Oral Tradition, and Comic Books" down on Broadway between Princeton and Houston: save the date.
B) I received a great e-mail today: a college in Iowa wants me to come out and speak on Baba Yaga. This is the first time in my life that I've heard the magic words "per diem" in relation to myself in my life, and it's ... kinda rocking.
Stuff like this makes me think that I might, someday, have a shot at getting a job.
Other than that? Both the cramps and the food poisoning are subsiding. I made a huge opal pendant to remind myself to be more patient. I'm feeling weirdly disconnected from people, and kinda freaked out about all the writing I have to complete by the end of the month (two states which, actually, are mutually exclusive). But, on the whole? Not too shabby, over here ...
