Ah, where to begin?

Well, for starters, y'all want to hear about the height of absolute pointlessness? Futile distraction for those with too much time and too much money (and, potentially, not enough brains) on their hands? Well, then, watch and wait, 'cause it's here: reusable ice cubes. Yeah, you heard me right ... I first encountered these at a friend's house. We were arguing, and I was thirsty, and (as is my wont) too lazy to get up and freshen my drink, so I decided to sip from the delicious dregs of the melted ice and their watered down, vodka-tonic flavor when I encountered something that seemed like the bastard love child of a breast implant and a used condom - the reusable ice-cube. It's a little square baggy-thing filled with water that you can freeze, use to cool a drink, and then wash to resuse again. I'm all in favor of conserving time, energy, and water ... but these things just don't do any of the above! You waste time carefully rinsing sugar and gook out of their crevices ... I'm betting that the water that runs down the sink while you're rinsing them outweighs the amount per cubic liter that you'd use to simply fill a tray ... and, well, ya still have to freeze the suckers. Why, oh cruel and merciless gods of comedy? WHY?!?!

On a slightly more serious note ... I'd been holding off mentioning this, but one of my contributors spilled the beans in the last issue of Emerald City (which is kinda cool in and of itself). I'm editing a special issue of the Journal of the Fantastic in the Arts on the hybridization of genre. Interstitial Arts, slipstream, the New Weird ... if it's liminal and border-breaking, it'll be in there. Out in fall, friends ...

And, most recently discovered: I'm going to have an article in the next issue of Extrapolations, an academic journal focusing on science fiction - so, if anyone's ever wanted to learn all there is to know about the Goblin Market (or, at least as much as I could cram into 15 or so pages), be on the lookout ...

All for now.

Aahhh! So good to hear from you - I didn't even know that you had a LiveJournal! (Or, possibly, I *knew* at one time but my sieve-like memory just misplaced the fact ...) Speculative Literature Foundation, you say? I hadn't known about it, actually; looks v. cool. You shaould post something about it on the IA discussion board (or, I'd be happy to ...) as it looks like a perfect match. Hope you're well - long e-mail a-comin'. And friending!

We just sent out the press release today and the new website is officially up. You could post to the IA discussion board as well as the fairy tale forum if it hasn't been posted there already. I just spent days redesigning the website for Papaveria Press (http://www.papaveria.com) which is where your pages now reside - see "select artists" - just so you know. I've had enough of the internet now to last me for a while.

It is so nice to know you're alive. :)
