Hey, remember how I was telling you about The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making, and how it would inevitably be good, and how you should go and read it?

Verily, I say unto you, in my full drag as a Professor of Children's Literature, right down to the little beard that I stroke in a knowing fashion (I modeled mine on Hatshepsut's): this is fantastic.  This is what C.S. Lewis could have accomplished in his relentless quest to update the voice of George MacDonald for a contemporary audience if he hadn't been consistently hampered by his, a) dislike of females, and b) lack of, well, originality, and resulting need to plunder and amalgamate the various mythologies of the world.  This is "classic" children's literature at its finest.

I not only hope that it sells like gangbusters online, I hope that some intelligent publisher picks it up and puts it out with marbled endpapers and a gilded binding, so that I can gloat over it to my heart's content.  Seriously, I know you'll be hearing this all over your f-list, if my private theories about how LJ proves the theory of overlapping consensual realities is true, and it'll be easy to tune it out because you have a lot of stuff on your plate, but ....

Trust me on this.  I'm a professional.  Go and read it.

Not half as happy as it made me to read it!

Hey, P.S. - I don't know what's up with the PayPal button, but when I go to donate, it insists that I am not already signed into my account, that I *cannot* sign into my account, and that I need to enter a sum larger than zero (regardless of the magnitude of the sum that has been entered). Given my luck with technology, this is probably just me, but I thought it might be worth a heads-up ....

I had that problem at first. After entering the amount, click on "Update total" or something like that, THEN deal with logging in/paying.

(For future reference or anyone else who has this problem, since you've already dealt with it another way.)

oh! this makes me so happy. can't wait to read it. I'm torn between pride and envy that SHE is going to be the most awesomest, most famous C.M.V. (those are my initials too!) and that she owns cmv.com.

I'm really looking forward to reading it, since I've really enjoyed her other work. I do have one question for you: do I have to have read the novel that it ties into before I read it?

No, definitely not - I'd say reading TGWCFiaBoHOM (even as an *acronym* it is a moutful!) would enhance the experience of reading _Palimpsest_ (it's foundational for one of the characters), but you don't need any familiarity in the other direction. Which is a good thing, as Cat mentions in the intro. - this is meant to be CL/YA, and if there's one thing a sexually transmitted city *isn't* ....

That sounds like the binder's version of "I'd hit that." Also? I actually took out a parentheses after that sentence that read (erzebet? ahem? eeeeeeeeeeeerzebet ....), so if you do, I will be v. happy, and also, smugly precognitive.
