And, on this most important of holidays, an important, but unrelated question: if a person has registered to vote by mail (or, sent their registration in weeks and weeks ago) but has received absolutely no response, whom should one contact to see if one is, in fact, registered?

I didn't get my notice either, but that's because they somehow got my street number wrong. I'm registered online, though... I'm paranoid enough to cry FRAUD!

Is the online thing just in NY, do you think? Because, TWO HOURS ON HOLD for the county clerk, and I am just about out of cope: it'll be easier to just SHOW UP at my polling place on Tuesday and find out then. Argh. I never thought I'd say it, but I even miss NY's bureaucracy ....
