Aw, my first earthquake.  That was a ... jarring ... start to the day ....

ETA:  I now have "I feel the earth ... move ... under my feet ...." running through my head on auto-loop.  I am also adding this to the Pro column for staying in this house: it is well constructed!  With thick walls and reassuringly beamed doorways to stand in!  I am also now bereft of human contact, as my cell phone service is out.  This goes into the Con column for staying with Verizon when I buy a new phone.

Also, seriously, earthquakes.  I'd forgotten about that downside to Cali living ....

To be fair to Verizon it may be that they're having too many calls coming in. Or that they had a tower go out (though, really, given the relative mildness of the quake on this side of town, that doesn't speak well for their tower construction.)

Still, I agree that if possible you want a cel phone which you can use after an earthquake.

INdeed - and, Verizon's the one that keeps getting singled out in media descriptions, which makes me think that, like, T-Mobile users are a-okay.
