The little things ...
Oct. 6th, 2004 02:12 pmSometimes, it really is all about the little things in life. I made a list, 15 items long, yesterday night, of what I *should* do today. No-where on that list do we have "Manicure and Pedicure," "Re-reading Tanith Lee books," or "Putting Up Curtains." And yet ...
There is, in fact, method to my madness: early on this morning I figured that if I'm taking my class to the NY Met tomorrow to see Verdi's "Otello" I really ought to look neat and well-kempt. So I did my nails. While I was waiting for them to dry, I remembered _The Silver Metal Lover_ which is all about the manicures, and which has a sequal coming out soon which I'll have to review, so I thought, why not look through it. Then I got to the gorgeous re-decorating scene, which made me want to beautify my home. Three hours later, anchors and wood-screws in place, I have a gorgeous three-layer arrangement of silvery tulle, grass-green gauze, midnight blue cotton and a touch, just a touch, of turquoise pashmina which brings joy to my heart and light to my study. Death to the cheap utilitarian plastic blinds! Of course, I also have various scrapes on my hands (and the red really goes more with the bedroom!), a pounded thumb and a 15 item list of things to accomplish, but I'll get to all that.
As soon as I fix my nails.
