This eBay auction, for a pomegranate marked with the True Cross, which completely misinterprests the myth of Persephone, has succeeded in making me lose all faith in humanity.

So I randomly search pomegranates.  So what.  WHAT OF IT?  WHAT OF MY POMEGRANATE?

In other news, I got to see Marina Warner read today, in a room with no heating.  That was worth it.  However, being in my study, at home, with no heating?  Kinda sucks.  Methinks 'tis the season to break out the fingerless gloves ...

Oh. That's sad. I mean, yes, completely mis-remembers the myth, but single mom, low-paying job, no Christmas presents for her daughter, in such trouble that she's taking comfort from a mark on the skin of a fruit makes me sad.
