Oct. 3rd, 2005 01:33 pmWhen I was in London with V., we spent a lot of time lingerie shopping. For some reason unbeknownst to us, one store decided to give us lemon-cheesecake food bars with our purchases. The logic behind this escapes me - what, did they think we were too thin? or hope that we'd eat enough of the damn things to go up a cup size or two and come back to buy more? - but I gamely took the food bars, thinking that, well, worst at worst, I'd have something to eat on the plane.
I did not eat them on the plane. I just kept staring at them in disbelief. They came in these silvery wrappers, and looked kinda like astronaut food, and ... yeah. And then, once I'd brought them home, they ... melted ... and resolidified ... in the heat of the New York summer, so, really, I was only keeping them out of lassititude and a kind of disgusted fascination.
But now, I have no food in the house. And, really: I mean NO FOOD. I even ate the free bread that came with my order of Italian from Saturday, for god's sake, so, obviously, desperate times called for desperate measures.
Have any of you ever read the Books of Magic? Remember Barbatos's plan to take over the world through snack food? Well, THIS would be that snack food.
Ugh. I need to go grocery shopping.
In other news, I really, really miss having free time.
