Friday's fortune cookie:

Do not worry about holding a high position: worry only about playing your proper role.

As Dave said, "Okay, who paid the kitchen off to give her that fortune?"

Needless to say, I promptly burnt the fortune up the second we got out of the restaurant.

Bite me, cookie.

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] fletcherschloe  and I went shopping yesterday.  Putatively, our goals were to find a gift for my parents 35th wedding anniversary, and to find a new rug for my study.  Instead?

Shoes.

I am now the proud possessor of my first pair of red shoes, as well as of a pair of shining green patent leather loafers with silver buckles.  I plan to wear them with all-black ensembles while cackling to myself, thus prompting yet more children to tug at their mother's sleeves while asking "Mommy, mommy, is she a ... witch?" as has happened more then once in the past.  Preceptive little beasties, children.  (In my own defense, in the past, I have neither been clad in unusual footwear nor cackling to myself, which has made it all the odder.)  This also brings my shoe-total for the summer up to seven new pairs.  I think that this qualifies me for a support group of one kind or another ...

In a bit, I'll be heading out to (hopefully) play billiards with [livejournal.com profile] schrodingersgnu  and his friend Smith, after having drinks at The Slaughtered Lamb.  If we're lucky, they'll have karaoke!  This will enable me to sing, drive all the other patrons fleeing into the night, and keep the place in its entirety, ensuring privacy and good service.

Later, people ....

Hehe

LJ's timestamps are screwed up - we got home at about 2am, I think. Granted, a bit later than you might have preferred, but still earlier than the 6am timestamp... :)
