I just saw a first edition of Planche's translation of the tales of d'Aulnoy on eBay for 100 British pounds.

I just bought a first edition of Planche's translation of the tales of d'Aulnoy off ABE for 100 American dollars.

Some days, I love me my capitalism ...

SCORE!!!! Nothing like saving 80-some-odd bucks (at least as of today's conversion rate... :) )

For shame! Succumbing to female logic like that... Spending $100 on an item worth $180 =! saving $80, it means spending $100. Period.

You need to work on your manliness, here. Go watch some braindead action movies while drinking beer and belching loudly.

For shame...

From an individual who succumbed to surgery for the sake of vanity, I'll take that with a grain of salt ... :)

Me? Unless you are referring to a tattoo as "surgery" I don't know what you mean... The eyes was about avoiding the hassle of having two pieces of glass trapped at my face at all times...

Mmmmm-hm ... and this female feels quite logical about dropping a c-note on something handy for her dissertation!

Of course. If you had to reference, say, the second edition it would all be rejected, right?

It's all defined by need. Not having a clue what exactly it was she purchased (ok, book, yeah, i got that, but not at all familiar with the content), but sounds like it's something related to her field of study in some way or another, I would side with the fact that this was, indeed, a savings. Especially if the purchase itself could be written off as a tax deduction... :) Kinda like how I just needed to upgrade my iPod - had i bought my new model 6 months ago, it would have run me $600 - as it stands, I bought it last week, and saved $150. and goddamn, do I NEED my iPod (seriously, it came in quite handy when mixing down the band's record, but i digress)... :) Reminds me, Dell just cut prices on their 20" LCDs, I need me a couple of those, too...looking at saving $370 on that deal... :) :) :)

But were I to pick up a pair of shoes just because they were on sale, well, I think I'd have to curl up with a good John Wayne marathon and a bottle of sour mash...

:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) - and add another couple rows of smileys for the humor-impaired... :) :) :) :) :)

Don't make me come over there...

Sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine. Had an old gf who kept using this to motivate clothes purchases, and it drove me insane. Come to think of it, pretty much all my ex-gf's have been using that line. :)

We ALL use that line...if it's not sustenance or shelter, we really don't NEED any of it...except the iPod... :)

Aaah, but then you don't save any money on buying it, right? You just paid less than you could have. :)

Well, there ARE the tax breaks and increased productivity...all of which mean money in the bank...they're not JUST toys... :)

Yeah, that isn't a good sign, is it?

Actually, if language had been all that was the matter with it, I would have just corrected it and moved on. It was missing large chunks, however, two entire paragraphs that were simply missing. I'm still going down to USC, though, I have some other things I need to discuss when I'm there and I think we can discuss the manuscript as if those two chunks exist.

but of course - it's a 60GB portable hard drive, for christ's sake... :)

actually, i was really talking about the monitors - when you do a lot of audio/video, the more screen real estate, the better.
