Okay, so, um, today in my grad class on fairy tales, I started talking about the mainstreaming of subversive genres, and how the subversive elements within those genres might, of necessity, be displaced onto new forms when eliminated by mainstreaming, but still remain present within the original materials, to be employed in future retellings and revisions, gaining cohesion, power, and applicability with the distance of time and the remixing of key elements.

I may have illustrated this using rap.

I may have also just sent them all a link to that remix of "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" featuring the Nicholas Brothers that I love so much to illustrate my point.

I am so going to professor hell.
