In other news, it is so damned hot that the water coming out of the cold-water tap is actually hot.  Not boiling hot, but warmer than lukewarm, definitely.

So I just put ice in my cat's water dish.  After a few minutes of offended befuddlement (you could just see the cat doing the feline equivalent of "Waitor, there's a fly in my soup!") she apparently figured out that the ice was, y'know, ice, and that the water around it was perceptibly cooler.  My cat is now licking the ice cube.

Welcome to August in New York, people.

I have been putting ice in Tevye's water too the last few days (due to my "cold" water coming out the same as yours). I wish he were clever enough to lick the ice but he's a big fraidy cat and seems to wait for it to mostly melt before trying out the water.

I can't remember, do you ladies have a/c?

Heh - I admit, I was nervous at first, getting images of her choking on the little melty bits, but luckily she doesn't appear to be *that* dim.

We have AC in our bedrooms, so we're surviving, but getting to the kitchen is like trekking to the frikking Sahara ....

Oh yeah, it's August. They shut down the AC in our office about half an hour ago, and people are beginning to melt in their button-downs.
