A couple of weeks ago, I posted about the most recent Cali earthquake, and a friend from Canada mentioned that she regretted not having had one while she was down here, just to know what it felt like.  After a few weeks of thinking about it, I realized that I had a direct corollary: being in an earthquake feels exactly like being in a plane experiencing heavy turbulence (with the added discomfiture of, a) your house not really being built for these maneuvers, and, b) your inner knowledge that you should not be feeling this while on land).

While I rather violently dislike the feeling of earthquakes, I have to say, it's not the worst sensation that California has given me: that honor goes to driving in high winds.  That feels a lot like wrestling with an giant invisible cat for control of the car.  Bat, bat bat!
